Abstract

Legal education plays one of the central roles in the formation of the world view of the individual; it determines how he or she sees the law, ethics, and social justice. Considering the contemporary thinking and taking into account the processes of globalization and digitalization, it is important to study the impact of the legal educational setting on contemporary thinking. This paper examines historical and philosophical basis of legal education and how it has contributed to development of morals, responsibility as a group and critical analysis. It plays a significant role in the importance of incorporating international law and human rights into curriculum to empower legal awareness globally. It is a systematic review research based on the methodology that involves the use of analysis, synthesis and comparison of the contemporary research. Findings indicate that legal education has developed not only out of rhetoric and philosophy in the antiquity, but also into systems in the modern times, and is currently being transformed to digital. Philosophies like justice, ethics and humanism, and approaches like interactive and problem-based learning are singled out as the key to the development of competencies in legal professionals. The paper has concluded that legal education needs modernization which involves the use of interdisciplinary studies, use of advanced technologies, and more modern methods of study in order to produce quality professional training and a steady world perception of the future lawyers.
