Vol. 7 No. SI3 (2025): Culture as a living force that shapes identity, worldview, and knowledge systems

The International Journal of Culture, History and Religion (IJCHR) has consistently provided a dynamic scholarly platform for researchers across the globe whose works explore the intersection of education, culture, heritage and human development. Among its published articles, a notable body of literature focuses on pedagogy anchored in cultural contexts, reflecting a growing academic movement that emphasizes culturally grounded approaches in teaching, curriculum transformation and inclusive learning.

The journal highlights how culture is not merely a backdrop to education but a living force that shapes identity, worldview, and knowledge systems. Articles within IJCHR argue for the integration of local histories, indigenous knowledge systems, spiritual traditions and culturally responsive teaching to strengthen the relevance and sustainability of contemporary education. These scholarly contributions provide critical insights into how education can become more meaningful when it affirms learners’ socio-cultural backgrounds and lived experiences.

Research published in the journal addresses culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP), decolonial education, heritage-based instruction, and mother tongue-based multilingual education (MTB-MLE) especially in contexts across Asia, Africa, the Pacific and Indigenous communities worldwide. Many studies demonstrate how embedding cultural narratives and community practices in lessons enhances student engagement, improves academic achievement, and strengthens cultural identity. Furthermore, the journal amplifies the importance of teacher professional development in cultural competence, advocating for educators to become facilitators of cultural continuity and agents of social transformation.

A significant number of articles also explore values-based and faith-informed pedagogy, where education is seen not only as a cognitive process but also as a moral and spiritual journey. These works connect religion and education in a way that promotes respect, intercultural dialogue, and peace education, contributing to the development of globally responsible citizens.

Through these culturally oriented pedagogical studies, IJCHR advances academic discourse by:
-Challenging Eurocentric educational paradigms
-Advocating for contextualized and community-based learning models
-Championing educational equity and inclusivity
-Preserving cultural heritage through pedagogy
-Promoting intercultural understanding and global solidarity

In sum, the body of literature published in the International Journal of Culture, History and Religion affirms that education rooted in culture is education with soul. It not only empowers learners but also strengthens nations by preserving memory, honoring identity and promoting socially just education systems. As globalization continues to shape human societies, IJCHR remains a vital academic space for researchers and educators who believe that culture-based pedagogy is essential for building transformative and humanizing educational practices across the world.
